The 24th Kurt Richter Memorial Tournament takes place from 30 October to 1 November 2026 at Mitte Town Hall in Berlin. The open Swiss-system tournament has eight rounds, with three rapid rounds on Friday and five longer rounds over the weekend.

The tournament is open to everyone. Special prizes are offered for U18, women and seniors aged 65 or over, in addition to two rating categories. These age references are award or scoring categories, not participation restrictions.

Tournament format, ratings and rules
Main tournament: Swiss system · Rounds: 8 · Time control: Rounds 1–3 on Friday: 15 minutes per player plus 10 seconds per move. Rounds 4–8 on Saturday and Sunday: 45 minutes per player plus 30 seconds per move. · Rating: DWZ
Four games are submitted for DWZ rating.

Schedule
Tournament periodThe BSV calendar lists the event as starting at 18:00. Check-in is available until 18:15 on Friday; round one starts at 18:30.
Friday: rounds 1–3Round 1 at 18:30, round 2 at approximately 19:30 and round 3 at approximately 20:30. These three rounds use the rapid time control.
Saturday: rounds 4–6Round 4 at 10:00, round 5 at 13:15 and round 6 at 16:30.
Sunday: rounds 7–8Round 7 at 10:00 and round 8 at 13:15. The award ceremony follows.
