Eligibility, divisions and teams
Open to players rated DWZ 1900 or above; women from DWZ 1800. Lower-rated players may request participation. Women play in the joint event; the best woman receives the corresponding state title.
Brandenburg State Individual Championship (Women/Men): The DWZ threshold is 1900 for players and 1800 for women; lower-rated applications may be requested.

Tournament format, ratings and rules
Brandenburg State Individual Championship (Women/Men): Seven-round Swiss system. · Rounds: 7 · Time control: 40 moves in 90 minutes, then 30 minutes for the remainder, plus 30 seconds per move (Fischer increment). · Rating: DWZ + FIDE
Only for qualifying places for the German championship; two blitz games with 3 minutes plus 2 seconds per move.
The FIDE Laws of Chess apply.
The seven rounds are played using the Swiss system.
Playoffs are held only for qualifying places for the German championship.

Qualification for the 2027 German Individual Championship for the state champion; the corresponding rule also applies to the state champion woman.
Conditions: The LSBB subsidizes participation by 50 percent and states that the champion is pre-qualified.
