Tournament format, ratings and rules
Club Blitz Championship 2026: Round-robin format depending on the number of players · Time control: 3 minutes plus 2 seconds per move
A play-off decides a tie for first place.
The current FIDE blitz chess rules apply with the linked club clarifications.
The linked club rules state that these rapid and blitz events are not submitted for rapid or blitz rating.
An illegal move can be corrected before pressing the clock, subject to touch-move. Afterwards the opponent may claim; a valid claim loses the game for the player unless the opponent has no theoretical mating material. The claim right ends when the opponent touches a piece intending to move or capture.
A tie for first is decided the same evening: two players play pairs of games until resolved; more than two initially play single round-robin mini-tournaments. Before a match begins, the director may announce a subsequent Armageddon game (5 versus 4 minutes; White must win).
For final-group qualification, tied players are separated by Sonneborn–Berger, then a play-off game or mini-tournament; if still tied, lots are drawn.
If both flags fall, the player whose time expired first loses; if the clock cannot establish that, the game is drawn. For play continuing after one flag falls, the linked club rule gives further details. Arbiters make final individual decisions.
Up to 10 players: double round robin; 11–16: single round robin; over 16: preliminary and final round robins. No more than 15 rounds are planned.
